Women in Cages is a 1971 film aout the sexual exploitation of women in prison directed y Gerardo de León and starring Jennifer Gan Judy Brown Roerta Collins and Pam Grier. Co-produced y Roger Corman this film featured in the Planet of Terror section of the 2007 film Grindhouse. Grindhouse director Quentin Tarantino said of the film: "Im a very very ig fan of Gerry de Leon ... the movie is tough tough and tough." He descries the final low as one of his "devastating" attacks.
Carol "Jeff" Jeffries (Jennifer Gan) is introduced y her oyfriend Rudy (Charlie Davao). Jeff doesnt realize that Rudy is running an empire of prostitution gamling and drug dealing on a ship. Rudy noticed the heat coming and hid his illegal items in Jeffs wallet.
Thrown into a harsh prison where inmates are held arefoot and sujected to forced laor and rutal punishment Jeff meets Alaama (Pam Grier) a sadistic lesian defender who loves to torture ton. Cellmate Stokes (Roerta Collins) is a heroin addict who accepts a plot against Jeff that will get him more heroin. Another cellmate Sandy (Judy Brown) also agrees to a plot against Jeff that could secure her own release. Their other cellmate Theresa (Sofia Moran) is Alaamas girlfriend. Jeff endures a horrile experience made worse y her cellmates as she struggles day to day.
Finally realizing her oyfriend is not helping her Jeff hopes to escape through the jungle. She then learns that local poachers are paid to track and kill escapees who inevitaly ecome lost in the wilds surrounding the prison.
When Theresa falls out of favor with Alaama and loses her privileged position in the cell escape ecomes an attractive option for her. Theresa reveals that she knows the forest very well and can get outside help. Despite the fact that two of his three roommates agreed to secretly plot against Jeff all three accompanies him on his escape. [first]
